Is It So Ingrained In People At An Early Age That They Can’t Change Their Destiny?
To be able to give a
precise answer to this question, one first needs to define what destiny is -
just plain old definition and not dabbling into metaphysics and esoteric.
Such an answer will determine whether there is even something like destiny?
the online dictionary says of destiny:
("she was unable to
control her own destiny")
b. the hidden power believed to control future events; fate.
("he believed in
destiny")
Sometimes destiny is interchanged with the term fate but destiny is not fate
Destiny is what happens when you commit to rising, learning, and taking risks, while fate is what happens when you don't take responsibility for your life. Only successful and deliberate decisions will lead to being "destined for greatness."
So, does destiny exist?
Destiny (luck/fortune/fate) is a self-made automatic (worldly) mechanism that arose with the formation of the universe through a massive explosion (Big Bang). In this scheme, what will happen in a typical case is immediately decided at the time of the explosion — when and where.
Other terms used as signifying destiny include
karma
fortune
chance
predestination
providence
luck
fate
kismet
stars
Having defined destiny, it is now appropriate to answer the question earlier asked - Is it so ingrained in people at an early age that they can’t change their destiny?
It is popularly said that we are developed from two sides - our NATURE and our NURTURE
Our nature includes those things inherent in us, which we came out into the world with and which we express as time goes on, they are said to be embedded in our DNA
Our nurture includes nuances, attitudes, behaviours, habits which we emulated from those around us - our parents, our teachers and guardians, our extended relatives (Aunties, Uncles) even our peers and the society at large
Most often, we are limited by our nurture and therefore find it difficult to express our nature. By so doing, it is difficult to take charge of our destiny as we are made to believe that the choice of our parents for us was made in our own best interest and therefore must be the best for us even when we struggle to meet up with the demands of those choices.
This struggle between who we are made to be and who we really should be sometimes becomes an eternal struggle that may lead us into living double lives - an external one to please the people around us and an internal one where we hide to take solace in who we really are.
Right from childhood, the training is that our destiny is already chosen for us and so we cannot change it. But as people get emancipated from dogmatic teachings and free themselves up by enlightenment, it is obvious that every man's destiny or every woman's destiny lies squarely in the palms of their hands and on their shoulders too.
The man is the architect of his own fortune or misfortune as the case may be as no one else can decide his destiny but himself alone
I believe we have complete power over our decisions and that our actions in reaction to what fate has in store for us are important.
We are here to learn lessons, and the difficult choices we must make help us develop as people.
Can One Change One's Destiny?
Going by what I have written above, one's destiny is in one's own hands, therefore it is possible to change the destiny especially the one that had been imposed on one while growing up.
There are families that are poor not because of God (as God is not a God of poverty) but because members of that family sweat over little things and refuse to take bold steps to change their destiny; they are ruled by fear, afraid to step out of the line, afraid to take any worthy risks, afraid to even breathe fresh air.
Any child from that kind of family can decide to toe a different line from that of his parents and make a difference in the family's fortunes.
So if your life sucks right now, be rest assured that if you implement these three things, you would be on the road to changing the script of your life which is your destiny
1. Realize the Fact That You Made Your Today
You were the master of the yesterday that created your today, in like manner you are the masters of your tomorrow.
Yesterday's future is today's present.
Today did not occur by
chance.
You consciously or
unconsciously led yourself to this point, whether you know it or not.
What we see, live, and
experience today is the product of our decisions, feelings, and acts from
yesterday.
Do you like the outcomes in your immediate vicinity?
Most people deflect to their perceived circumstances at this stage.
It's much easier to blame
someone or something else for today's outcome than to accept responsibility.
“He forced me do this” or “She made me to do that.” or the blame is on the family's social or financial situation.
You can blame your birthplace, the economy, or politicians.
You can point the finger at someone or something except yourself. You are blameless in the litany of wrongdoing.
While approaching things in this manner will make you feel better, it will not help you change your fate.
According to Gary Vaynerchuk, if anyone else with our perceived weakness has succeeded, there's no excuse we can't as well.
If anyone else has succeeded beyond our perceived limitations, then “the problem is not the problem.”
The issue is your attitude toward the issue” (Captain Jack Sparrow, Pirates of the Caribbean).
It's a harsh reality: if
we're unhappy with our lives, we're to blame.
It's also a reassuring
truth, because we can change our tomorrow just as much as we can change our
today.
Rather than assigning blame, we should examine our beliefs. And as Earl Nightingale said it, “What we think about, we become,”.
What are your thoughts? The solution is all around you, and it has the power to change your life.
2. DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE BIBLE SAYS SO.
If we don't like what we see in the world, we must change ourselves. We need to alter our perceptions of who we are, what we're worth, and what we can do.
We can be anybody or anything we want if we believe in ourselves. This may sound like another Disney quote, but it's a reality that can be found in the earliest texts of history.
We can be anybody or anything we want if we believe in ourselves. This may sound like another Disney quote, but it's a reality that can be found in the earliest texts of history.
“I tell you the truth, you may say to this mountain, ‘Be raised up and thrown into the sea,' and it will happen,” Mark 11:23 says. But you must have complete faith in it and have no doubt in your heart.”
It is easier said than done to change one's convictions, however it is possible.
3. Many of our values are ingrained in our psyche.
We don't always understand why we believe them because they're hidden so deep inside us.
As if they were inherent
realities, we ignore them as "it's just who I am" or "it's just
what I believe." We could change our inherent truths if they aren't
helping us.
We have the ability to alter our subconscious programming, also known as neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). This is how we tell ourselves the tale. It's the voice within our heads that we hear.
Have you ever wondered why you say the things you do to yourself? That's NLP for you.
Changing your NLP is the secret to changing your life's trajectory.

Two activities will assist
you in changing your NLP. As soon as I avoid doing them, I notice.
a. Repeating affirmations is the first step.
b. The second thing you should do is keep a gratitude log.
It may sound a little cheesy, but these two steps will really help you change your life.
Make a script that you will remember. It should describe the best version of yourself and your goals.
Include deadlines and be specific. Close your eyes for five minutes each day, either in the morning or before bed, and repeat your affirmations aloud.
Visualize what you're saying in your head. Feel the joy of accomplishing your objectives and being the person you believe you should be.
Imagine the sensations, the smells, and the sounds. All of your senses were engaged.
This will seem odd at
first, but it is a simple exercise that will change your NLP over time.
You change your NLP as you change your views, your actions, and your outcomes. And that will empower you to change your destiny.
Next, keep a gratitude journal when practicing affirmations, even though you don't feel like you have much to be thankful for.
Concentrate on the
positive.
You'll get more positive
outcomes if you concentrate more on the positive.
Since we're surrounded by negative stimuli, it's easy for our minds to wander into negative territory. Plus, suffering enjoys the company of others.
Your boss is on you about your job if your colleagues aren't making you down about work. If the weather isn't depressing enough, the news will do all it can to make you feel down.
A regular practice that combats negativity will alter your perspective and, as a result, your attitudes, actions, and outcomes.
The reality is that we're all to blame for our outcomes. The sooner you recognize this and take control of your convictions, the sooner you will alter your fate.
Dr.Dennis Ekwedike: To change the trajectory of life we must take responsibility for our lives knowing that our destiny if there is anything like that is in our hands not in our parents , siblings or government's hands ! A word is enough for the wise !!
ReplyDeleteTaking responsibility of one's own life without looking for who to blame or rationalizing issues is the best way to make living worth the while BUT that is what most people are not doing. We would rather blame whoever or whatever is blamable including the stars rather than take responsibility
DeleteTruly, as a man thinketh in his heart so is he. Just as life and death are in the power of the tongue, so what we speak to ourselves either audibly or in our heads would matter to the réalisation or otherwise of our destiny
ReplyDeleteThe Scripture is very clear on how we can use these elements and tools in our bodies to excel BUT many of us don't even bother to find them and then use them, We prefer to prevaricate and rationalize and blame
