What Are The Popular Currencies Of Life?
In the early formative
years of my life, my Father used to conduct early morning advisory teaching
every day except Sundays. He would wake us up by 4.45 am and then teach us from
5 am to 6 am. He taught us so many things concerning life and how to navigate
the murky waters there-of.
Those early morning teachings and trainings really helped to shape me and made me into the adult I eventually became.
In one of those teachings, he asked a question that seemed simple to me.
He asked us - "What are the currencies of life"
Soon as I heard the word currency, I immediately aligned it to money and I gave the answer as money, my younger ones all aligned with my answer.
My Father said I was correct but there were are other currencies of life I had not mentioned. He asked if anyone else had an answer and when no other answer was forth coming, he proceeded to tell us and teach us
Today I am sharing with you what my Father taught me about currencies of life more than 50 years ago
He stated that there were 3 popular currencies of and in life
1. Money
2. Knowledge
3. Time
1. Money
Money is any object that is widely recognized in a certain country or socioeconomic setting as payment for goods and services as well as debt repayment.
Money has four major functions: a medium of trade, a unit of account, a store of value, and, on rare occasions, a standard of postponed payment.
Commodity money, fiat money, and fiduciary money are the three types of money. ...... Commodity money gets its value from the commodity it's made of, but fiat money is only worth what the government says it is worth.
Banknotes and coins in
circulation are referred to as fiduciary money, or currency. This is the amount
of money that economic actors have accessible to conduct transactions. It's a
method of payment.
The invention of money put
an end to bartering and allowed trade to flourish.
Durability, mobility, divisibility, homogeneity, limited supply, and acceptability are the seven properties of money.
Is Money Really Important?
Money is a necessary commodity that allows you to manage your life. Exchanging products for goods is an older habit, and you can't buy anything if you don't have any money. People are striving to save money for their future needs, hence money has acquired value.
Money helps us reach our life's goals and supports – the things we care about most profoundly - family, education, health care, charity, adventure, and pleasure — in addition to meeting our basic requirements. Money may provide us the ability to make a difference in other people's lives, but it does not give us the desire to do so.
Whatever anybody says about money, even the Scripture says that Money is a defence and that "money answereth all things" so one is advised to go make money to be able to live the good life. However the danger in ownership of money is in "worshipping money" thus making it an idol, loving it beyond the love we have for God and mankind - that is why the Scripture says that " the LOVE of money is the ROOT of all evils"
There are quite a number of ways to have money - you can either earn it by way of working jobs provided for you by other persons (in which case you are an employee) or making it by way of rendering valuable service to people through business establishment - either online or brick and mortar business.
If you want to be a millionaire, you simply have to learn to make money by creating value for people
2. Knowledge
Familiarity, awareness, or comprehension of someone or something, such as facts (descriptive knowledge), skills (procedural knowledge), or objects (acquaintance knowledge), is referred to as knowledge.
A theoretical or practical understanding of a subject is referred to as "knowledge."
Knowledge can be divided into four categories, according to Krathwohl (2002): (1) factual knowledge, (2) conceptual knowledge, (3) procedural knowledge, and (4) metacognitive knowledge.
10 Ways to Effectively Acquire Knowledge
1) Do thorough research. Being immersed in an universe of data can be a difficult challenge to manage and comprehend.
2) Read a lot of books...
3) Be Conscious of What You're Doing...
4) Establish good habits.
5) Increase Productivity.
6) Make Goals That Are Achievable.
7) Motivate Others..
8) Have faith in yourself.
9) Embrace the discomfort
10) learn from your blunders
Concerning the sources of knowledge: Perception, memory, consciousness, and reason are the “four standard basic sources,” according to t.
Without affirmative
reliance on another source, a fundamental source offers knowledge or justified
belief.
With the exception of
memory, this article considers each of the aforementioned to be a fundamental
source of knowledge.
The Types Of Knowledge Include:
Knowledge is divided into three categories: explicit (documented information), implicit (applied information), and tacit (undocumented information) (understood information).
These various sorts of
knowledge combine to form the spectrum of how humans exchange information,
learn, and evolve.
Why Knowledge?
In two ways, knowledge improves thinking. To begin with, it aids problem solving by freeing up space in your working memory.... Keep in mind, however, that information improves students' reasoning and critical thinking skills, which are required in history, literature, and other humanities disciplines.
So knowledge is a learned skill that helps us to live our lives beyond the basal level.
3. Time
What do we mean when we say "time"?
(This is the first of
three entries.) 1a : the amount of time that an activity, process, or condition
exists or persists, as measured or measurable: length of time b : a nonspatial
continuum measured in terms of events that occur one after the other from the
past to the present to the future.
But the real definition of time is:
Time is the seemingly
irreversible cycle of existence and events that runs from the past to the
present to the future.
Time is operationally
defined in physics as "what a clock reads."
The Concept Of Time
Time is a self-evident idea. An hour is made up of a particular number of minutes, a day is made up of hours, and a year is made up of days. But, according to one researcher, we rarely consider the fundamental nature of time. Time is a self-evident idea.
Is there such a thing as time?
Time is a major point of contention between relativity and quantum physics; in relativity, time is measurable and changeable, whereas in quantum physics, time is thought to be backdrop (and thus not an observable).
While humans see time as subjectively real, many physicists believe it is not essentially real.
What are the two different sorts of time?
It turns out that two gods are associated with two separate types of time in Greek mythology, which roughly correspond to the Greek words chronos and kairos. Kairos corresponds to progressive flows, while chronos corresponds to regular cycles.
What is the significance of time?
The goal of time is to keep everything from happening at the same time.
Is time a concept created by humans?
Time, in the sense that we understand it, is a man-made construct used to explain, monitor, and govern industry and individual production.
What's the total number of dimensions?
There are three dimensions of space (length, width, and depth) and one dimension of time in the world as we know it. However, there's always the chance that there are more dimensions out there. The cosmos operates with ten dimensions, according to string theory, one of the most influential physics models of the last half-century.
Is there such a thing as a dimension called time?
A temporal dimension, often known as a time dimension, is a dimension that measures the passage of time. For this reason, time is frequently referred to as the "fourth dimension," but this does not mean that it is also a spatial dimension. Physical change can be measured using a time dimension.
Is time a figment of your imagination?
While most people believe that time is fixed, scientist Albert Einstein demonstrated that time is relative, and that it can vary for various observers based on their movement through space.
Is it possible to travel back in time?
The Quick Answer is: Although people cannot travel back in time by hopping into a time machine, we do know that clocks on airplanes and satellites travel at a different speed than clocks on Earth. We're all time travelers!... And we're all moving through time at about the same rate: 1 second per second.
It is obvious from the above discussions that time is not an absolute entity but a relative one and since we are all time travelers, we are at various points on the time scale. Be that as it may though, we have accepted that though the Creator gave us day and night with the Sun to light up and warm the day and the Moon to light up and cool the night, we have given ourselves the hours, the minutes and the seconds and we are always advised to endeavour to make the seconds and minutes and hours to count.
However what is of utmost
importance in this discussion is that everyone of us has these three popular
currencies of life right on our palms and it is what we do with them that
really matter.
The three popular currencies of life are intertwined and no man is left bereft of any of them.
If one is constrained for time, he may have the money to buy other people's time to get what he wants from here arose that popular saying that "time is money"
One person may have the knowledge of how something can be done but lacks the wherewithal to translate his knowledge into a thing of value to the society, he can get someone with money to buy his idea and then get it translated to a valuable item - that is why it is said that "ideas are capital" or he can choose to work for another directly or indirectly to raise the necessary capital to translate his idea into a workable solution
And then there could be someone who has money and time on his hands but lacks the knowledge of something he wants to have done. What then would he do if not to use his money and buy that which another has developed that is in sync with his ambition or need.
So you can see how these three popular currencies of life play a big role in our lives and anyone who masters them well will definitely live the good life. I learnt that from my Father and I am happy that I did.
Over to you, what have you learnt from this discussion and how do you intend to put it to maximum use
#wealthisearned
Very Interesting and thought provoking. I have been properly educated on the popular currencies of life. I made bold to add the fourth currency as character. I intend to henceforth use my money and time we'll and do everything to pursue more knowledge to live a satisfactory and balance life. Thanks a bunch for the story !
ReplyDeleteNice to read from you Dr. Ekwedike
DeleteAnd I am happy to hear that you learnt something new from this post
The above comment is from DR.DENNIS EKWEDIKE
ReplyDeleteI have learnt about the 3 currencies of life which I never knew before. None of these can function exclusively in isolation. Even if you have one, strive to get the other two by yourself or through other people. These are intertwined. The more of these currencies one have, the better the life that will be lived by the person
ReplyDeleteThank you
Dr. Ebube, good to read from you here
DeleteAnd it gladdens my heart that we have made some impact
Keep coming back for more
Very inspiring and informative ,I have been really enlightened,Thank u Doc for this thought provoking write up
ReplyDeleteAlright
Deletethanks
No 1. The perfect ingredients for wealth creation.
ReplyDeleteNo 2. Over the years people didn't really see or notice the correlation between these three factors of wealth creation, people hinged their knowledge of wealth to the factor (money, time, knowledge) they were disposed to. A combination of two or even the three puts one on a frequency that would make his or her journey easier, better, more secure, more promising.
No 3. All three..
You need money and time to translate your knowledge into quantifiable profits..
4. Use the two elements you have to get the third..so as to live fulfilled....
Sorry it's coming in late..
Good one Prosper
DeleteYou did justice to the questions asked
Cheers
